The Surrounding Islands of Koh Samui

Koh Samui has two Smaller Islands close by, they are both to the North. Koh Phangan 12km North and Koh Tao 45 km North. Koh Phangan is about 30 minutes away by speedboat and is definitely worth a visit. You could even break your vacation up between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.

Koh Phangan Island is world famous for its full moon party. This is held on full moon night every month. The Full Moon Parties (and other associated parties) attract thousands of partygoers to the beach to eat and dance the night away. It is known to be the world’s largest beach party. You will also find a quieter and more cultural side to Koh Phangan with beautiful beaches such as Chalok Lam bay, Ban Kai and Haad Salat and Than Sadet National park. Chalok Lam is a picturesque bay framed by mountains, an old fishing village full of charm. Complete with Elephant treks, old temples and a cooking school.

The furthest island away from Koh Samui is Koh Tao or Turtle Island some 45 km to the North. Its remote location kept it out of the tourist spotlight until recent years. It is a peaceful paradise surrounded by rocks and corral reefs and deep water. Making it a home for mantas and whale sharks. Because of this it is very popular with divers.

Be sure to visit the other Islands surrounding Koh Samui as they offer so much and are just a boat ride away, don't return from your holiday wishing you'd gone to a few of the surrounding islands, they are well worth a day or 3.
